Pro-ACT In-service Instructor training is the most long-standing and widely attended training program offered by Pro-ACT, Inc., and it is grounded in the belief that all people, regardless of ability or diagnosis, deserve to be treated with respect.This principle based training is also committed to the understanding that client and staff safety is best maintained when the client’s needs and the circumstance of a given crisis are continually assessed.
Pro-ACT, Inc offers certification options for Pro-ACT training and Pro-ACT plus Pro-ACT Restraint Certification training.
The focus of Pro-ACT training is on building early observation and response skills in an effort to reduce the potential of a crisis occurring. The Pro-ACT course incorporates staff development in the areas of professionalism, preparation and self-control with a variety of early intervention strategies, verbal de-escalation principles, and other non-physical interventions. Also included in the Pro-ACT training is content on the documentation and debriefing of a crisis incident.
The Pro-ACT Restraint Certification can only be taught to persons who have successfully completed the Pro-ACT course. The Restraint Certification course defines and reviews manual, seclusion, and mechanical restraints, with a focus on manual restraint practices. This course teaches a variety of restraint positions ranging from less to more restrictive. Agencies may choose to teach and use the restraint positions that are allowable based legislative and licensing guidelines and are not obligated to teach restraint positions that will not be used.
