Specifically for parents, foster parents, and family members providing care, this livestream, 6-hour workshop offers practical, trauma-informed strategies to recognize and respond to their child’s dangerous behavior. Using the crisis cycle as a framework, this workshop introduces participants to each phase from a triggering incident and escalation through recovery and reconnection. Participants develop personalized observation, self-regulation/self-control,
and crisis response strategies to prevent and verbally respond and de-escalate potentially dangerous behaviors. Through scenario-based activities and discussion, parents and caregivers will increase confidence in anticipating and identifying triggering incidents and choosing non-physical responses that prioritize safety for the parent and
child.
